Therapy, or counselling, is a process to explore feelings, behaviours, communication, and relationships. Goals may include having a safe and supportive space to express emotions, feeling more connected to yourself and others, and enhancing coping skills. Sessions are always client-led, meaning you know yourself better than anyone else, and you are allowed to be human.
Somatic therapy recognizes that we carry feelings and reactions in our bodies, so our bodies should be included in the therapeutic process. Somatic therapy is particularly helpful for individuals who are not prepared to directly discuss a problem or trauma. Sessions may include the use of imagery, body scanning, posture and small movements, and self-soothing.
